A Lick of Paint
With the first coat of paint now on, the great thrill is to actually tick things off the list as finished! With the body tub welded and repainted, Matt and the chaps are moving on to the chassis. There are a few, small, welding jobs to do, then the fitting of all new brake pipes and fittings. The brakes it came with, were judged to be serviceable anyway and some parts even look new. My role has been minimal, but I fear I shall be doing what I do best, and heading back to Jeeparts, with another shopping list before too long.

I must say Tobe, it looks very impressive from here. Will it have indicators?
No. I shall wave my arms, furiously!
Toby,
Errrr, desert ones were painted sand yellow...
JC
With you there JC, but the lads only had green in stock. There must be some logic there somewhere! I shall paint it yellow when it gets back here, like they did back then. "Soldier! paint that Jeep yellow!"
Hello Toby
Do you want me to come over and spray it with machine gun bullets, just for authenticity?
I hope you remember to put in lots of useful extras like drinks holders, a little slot for your motorway toll ticket, bi-zone air conditioning, murrers with sliding covers on the back of the sun visors (you never know when a girl wants to touch-up her mascara) and a magazine rack (for those copies of Gay Arabs on the Lash). Oooh, I can feel a deletion coming on.
Few more touches to go, select among the best tops for the cover and your jeep will be ready to hit the road again
Nice try Supermaine, but this Jeep will, forever, be topless.
Trust Ron Combo to miss out a kettle holder in his list of accessories.
I think you should have the hard top made out of milk.
Thinking about it, the jeep rebuild seems to have slowed up a bit too. Perhaps Toby's run off with Ron Combo. Perhaps they're both in a mountain fastness nunnery like in The Black Narcissus, with Toby showing the Mother Superior his Landrover Monthly and Ron hanging from a bellrope.
