Leaps and Bounds.

A surge of activity last week sees the Jeep looking more Jeep like, and these latest pictures give a clue to it’s intended use, for those in the know. Purists will be pleased to see that it is a repro grille, from the Philippines, that has been butchered with the angle grinder. We have saved the 1943 one, just in case it is ever restored to a ‘normal’ green Jeep again. Next stage is the wiring and I have to lift a finger and restore the two ‘Italian’ rear lights. I have an old trailer board with some lights on it and hope to incorporate those feeble plastic lenses into the 12 gauge steel of the original lights. Built when Men were Men and stuff was built to win Wars!

Wow! It's really coming on and I am very envious! As it's French, will it have the special attachment on the front mudguard to hold the white flag?

I didn't realise your truck was froggy - It's a US built Willys isn't it.Did these get issued direct to the froggies then ? I do hope they paid enough for them. Work seems to be progressing a storm - well done , carry on. the series has gone for MOT so we'll be able to have a ride out one of these fine summer days !!!!!!!!!!

It's only the engine that's French! Rebuilt by some trusty French Squaddies as a Hotchkiss in about 1975 and dry stored ever since. The Jeep is a Calivornia import. Probably never done a days hard work in it's life, like it's owner.

Sorry Tobe! A false allegation....deffo not a white flag then. Will it have a Confederate flag? A Daisy Duke decal?

Forget flags, I'm getting out my economy World War II packet of Gauloises. (Brown paper, rubber stamped cockerel)
