Rose tinted life.

A marvellous ebay purchase, just this week. Genuine WW2 French Air Force, flying goggles. Bought for £33 from a lady called June with a hand written note in the jiffy bag stating, “Given to me by a Captain in the French Airforce”. One can only imagine the rest of the story and I’m sure there will be a few suggestions. They are new, unissued stock and the seal with my face is made with rubber, the like of which is one never sees now. Soft and without colour. There is a lovely little adjusting screw at the bridge to adjust the overall width. They will be perfect for blasting across the desert in the Jeep, which I plan, will have no windscreen, though I may wimp out nearer the time.

Fine goggles, mon ami. That they are unused is not surprising really; the French took their bat home pretty quickly once they realised that Fritz was cheating by going round the Maginot line, instead of through it. Nor is the fetching rose tint a surprise: Pilot Officer Johnny Frog and his mates needed that colour when they had to do battle with Herr Galland flying planes with silly names like Morane Saulnier, Potez and Loire.

Fittingly, the plane that would have frightened Oberflughaven Heinrich and his freunden was called Arsenal.....Plus ca change really.

More Gooners!!!!

Talking of which, Diplo has been a bit quiet lately.

I'm so glad you've invested in Patent Discriminator Goggles! The world will seem a much happier place when viewed through them.

I too am very worried about Mr.Diplo. I was up at his industrial estate yesterday and noticed that not only was he absent, but that a Hawker Hunter that had been parked nearby was also conspicuous by its absence.
